Rush Limbaugh is noted American radio host, television personality and political commentator and an author. He was born in Missouri on 12th January 1951 to Mildred Carolyn "Millie" and Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Jr., and was named Rush Hudson Limbaugh III.

He attended the Cape Girardeau, Missouri Central High School and graduated in 1969. Later he attended college but dropped out. He had begun his career in radio as a teenager in the name of Rusty Sharpe. He later went on to join WIXZ, a small AM radio station in Pittsburgh and worked as a disc jockey. He worked in many music radios for a decade before settling in Kansas City. He quit radio in 1979 and worked with the Kansas City Royals baseball team as director of promotions. But after few years he moved to California and started working for the radio station KFBK as a talk show host. It was during this time that former ABC Radio President Edward F. McLaughlin noticed him and Limbaugh moved to New York entering the national radio show. He gained many listeners with his unique style and his popularity rose during the Persian Gulf War. His show was then aired on 650 radio stations nationwide.

His show "The Rush Limbaugh Show" is aired on Premiere Radio Networks. It is the highest rated radio talk show in the United States. The format of this show has remained unchanged since its inception in 1988. The show mainly focuses on his conservative political analysis. He owns majority of the show and reportedly was said to have signed an eight-year contract at the rate of $31.25 million a year. Limbaugh is reported to have extended the contract until 2016 for $400 million which is a record for any broadcast.

He also worked as a commentator with ESPN in 2003. His first appearance in television was as a guest host in the late night talk show "The Pat Sajak Show". He later appeared in the "The Late Show with David Letterman". He also did guest appearances in shows like "Hearts Afire" and "The Drew Carey Show". From 1992 through 1996 he had syndicated television show that basically discussed many of the topics on his radio show but in front of an audience.

He also published two books "The Way Things Ought to Be" (1992) and "See, I Told You So" (1993) both of which were featured among the New York Times bestseller list.
